HEALTH: 10 Things You Need To Know About Sugar
Every time you buying anything containing in sugar, you are sending a message that you don’t care about your body, that you are satisfied with food that is making you sick, fat, and unhealthy.
1. WHY SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED ABOUT HOW MUCH SUGAR YOU CONSUME? -
Sugar adds empty calories to your diet. “Empty calories” means foods, which don't have any nutritional benefit. - Sugar promotes belly fat. - Eating excess sugar could lead to weight gain, obesity, diabetes and “diabesity” which bring a host of other health problems such as heart disease.
2. WHAT HAPPENS IN OUR BODY WHEN WE EAT SUGAR?
When we consume sugar, our body has two options on how to deal with it: - Burn it for energy. - Store excess sugar in our fat cells.
3. HOW DOES OUR BODY STORE EXCESS SUGAR IN FAT CELLS?
When our pancreas detects a rush of sugar, it releases a hormone called insulin to deal with all of that excess sugar. - Insulin helps regulate that level of sugar in our blood and store all of this glucose in fat cells
4. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ADDED SUGAR AND NATURAL SUGAR? Added sugars are those that are added to foods. The most commonadded sugars are regular table sugar (sucrose) or high fructose corn syrup. - Natural sugar is the kind of sugar contained in fruits, vegetables, and other plants.
5. HOW MUCH ADDED SUGAR SHOULD YOU CONSUME PER DAY?
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the maximum amount of added sugars you should eat in a day are: - Men: 150 calories per day from added sugar (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons). - Women: 100 calories per day from added sugar (25 grams or 6 teaspoons).
6. HOW MUCH NATURAL SUGAR IS GOOD FOR YOU?
Specific sugar recommendations aren’t available for natural sugars which occur in fruits. - Fruits are packed with beneficial vitamins, minerals and fiber. - Your daily consumption of Fruits and Vegetables should be around 33% of your diet.
7. WHAT ABOUT FRUIT SUGAR?
When you consume fruit, you are not only consuming fructose, but also consuming fiber and lots of vitamins and minerals, which are good for your health. - But yes, fruits do have an effect on our blood sugar, as it is sugar. - Generally fruit will cause less of a blood sugar spike compared to nutrient-void table sugar.
8. WHAT ABOUT FRUIT JUICES?
When you consume fruit juices, the juice is squeezed, giving you all of the juice but very little of the fiber or nutrients that get left behind in the process. - For this reason, many fruit juices should probably be called “sugar water”. - If you are going to eat fruit, get it in fruit form, not juice form.
9. WHICH ARE THE FOODS THAT CONTAIN LOT OF SUGAR?
White bread (maida) - Pasta (unless whole grain) - White flour (maida) products made with it such as cake, cookies, crackers, doughnuts and muffins. - Potato chips and sugar rich chocolates - Products with added sugar, e.g. jams and jellies - Salad dressings and sauces with added sugar - Fruit drinks containing added sugar - Sugar-sweetened soft drinks
10. WHAT ARE THE BEST THINGS TO EAT WHEN YOU CRAVE SOMETHING SWEET?
If you are going to eat sugar, get it from fruits. - Go for plain yogurt with fruits. - If you can't pass up something with added sugar, makesure it is made with oats or whole grains instead of white flour (maida). So, there you have it. I encourage you to decrease your sugar intake, start eating more realfoods and cut back on soft drinks purchases. Are you up to the challenge?

MUST READ: Ciara Blasts Bloggers In Open Letter
So the trend of open letters is not limited to Nigeria alone, American singer Ciara also shared hers on her blog today.
I used to sometimes like visiting some of the blog sites to see what new things are happening in the world!
Things like cool photos, current events, etc.
But nowadays it seems like there's a competition with sites on "Who Can Tear Someone Down the Most."
The stories are going from cool and creative to pure drama. Even the comment sections are beginning to get out of control and people are using the platforms to exercise a false sense of power.
People sure do have a lot of courage when they are anonymous. It's like a "Who Can Say the Nastiest Comment Game."
I click onto some of the comments from something as fun as an Instagram post that you're sharing with your fans, and a person finds a way to turn a positive post into a negative.
I think to myself, "I could pick this person apart so bad but what for? Why act ugly like
them?" It honestly takes the fun out of it when people seem so miserable.
Or at least that's how I view someone wasting their energy to tear someone down, just plain miserable. They could be using that to do something much more productive.
If only they could channel their energy towards positivity, it could make a difference in their own life as well as influence others.
It's kind of scary for the kids coming up, because even if a parent doesn't allow their kids to have blog site access at home, they may still have access at school or other places. It's now almost impossible to protect your kids from the vile things people say on blog sites today, and it's even worse when kids hear hurtful things about themselves, their parents or other family members. In some cases kids have even resorted to suicide due to "cyber-bullying."
My questions to people creating slander about people are:
What stops you from thinking twice about trying to defame someone?
What are you trying to gain?
Words are powerful. You could say the wrong thing about someone, famous or not, on the wrong day and that could cost them their life because they're at a weak point.
Believe it it or not, you could also be encouraging them to give up on their life or whatever the situation is, when they shouldn't.
Or what about a story that causes unnecessary drama stemming from completely false information? It's just flat out wrong and sad.
I say to myself, I thank God for making me strong, because I've always been able to use the negativity as motivation, and it makes me stronger. But I don't just think about myself in this, I think about others that I see getting thrashed and think it's just so wrong.
It's very sad that people just want to tear people down so bad just to see them unhappy. It's unbelievable how far people are willing to go to get people to come to their site.
I say this to say....
Dear Blogger,
It's never worth it in the end when you sell your soul for a quick dollar, by creating bad stories about people.
At some point, it will all reverse on you and you'll end up regretting all the trash you wrote or said about people.
The universal friend "Karma" has demonstrated this over and over again. I strongly encourage you to project more positivity into the universe. If Social Media is a world that's growing more massive by the day, why not use it to shed light?? Otherwise, you are merely contaminating our universe.
What about your family and kids?? Do you think about them?? You're definitely creating a harmful and volatile environment where they must learn to live. It's almost like you are cursing future generations with your bad energy.
Not to mention...Your "Personal Karma"??... Forget about it!
You better start doing some serious praying and rebuking, cause only The Lord knows!...:)
I sure do miss the good ol days when the focus was about the pure creativity of being an artist. Back then there was still some mystery. Social Media Is Beginning To Take Away The Specialness of What That Was, and Is.
Now, Off Blogs. Peaceful Mind. Living In My Happiness. Creativity Only.

$3,800 World’s Most Expensive Soap Unveiled In Qatar
The “most expensive soap in the world,” made of pure gold dust, olive oil and virgin honey and embedded with diamonds, was unveiled by Khan Al-Saboun Bader Hassoun and Sons at the Qatar Pool and Spa 2013 at the Doha Exhibition Centre recently.
Weighing around 100gm and with a price tag of $3,800, the soap dubbed ‘Qatar Royal Soap’ with the word ‘Qatar’ in Arabic inscribed on it, is being dedicated to Qatar and its great achievements in many fields, especially in winning the bid to host the FIFA 2022 World Cup.
Khan Al-Saboun Bader Hassoun and Sons chairman Dr Bader Hassoun explained that the soap was specially made for royalty aside being beneficial for the skin due to its natural and organic contents.
“Our company, based in Lebanon, has been known for specialising in natural and organic beauty products for years and we have very committed patrons due to this specialisation,” said Dr Hassoun, whose family has been in the soap making business for over eight centuries.
He said that the soap, though highly valued, has not been produced for commercial purposes, though it was earlier reported that it will be available for sale in Al-Saboun City Center – one of the company’s six branches in Qatar.
“We have made only this one piece in order to showcase our capabilities for inventions in soap making and just to express our respects for royalty. So, the soap will not be for sale,” he maintained.

5 Foods You Must Avoid Before Sex
You've probably heard about foods, which boost your sex drive or raise your sex quotient. But did you also know that there are foods, which can be a total put off when consumed before sex. We have listed the foods to avoid before sex.
Beans
Beans are a good source of fiber and proteins for our body. But they also contain a type of sugar that doesn't digest fast and causes bloating and gas. We can all agree that a gassy and bloating belly is not ideal for sex.
Garlic
Garlic adds extra flavor to our food, but it is really not a good idea before sex. It not only has a strong scent which can be an instant turn off but also has starches that can cause bloating.
Cheese
You probably didn't expect cheese to make it to the list of foods to avoid before sex, but the truth is that cheese can be a smelly nightmare and can turn your partner off. Cheese breath lingers on long after it has been consumed, so skip this food if you want to impress your partner.
Red meat
A fancy steak meal may sound like a perfect night out but you might want to reconsider your choice of meat. Red meat is heavy and can take a long time to digest. This will leave you feeling sluggish and sleepy, which will surely affect your performance in bed.
Peppermint
While you might think that chomping on a peppermint for fresh breath is a good idea before sex, studies show that the menthol present in peppermint can reduce testosterone levels and this can affect your sex drive.

“Men are submissive when they’re in control” – Skuki shares relationship tips for women
Nigerian singer, Skuki of pop group Peeshaun has just shared some tips on how to make a relationship work with women.
He took to twitter a while ago to share his advice.
He said “Honestly speaking, being a good girl doesn’t automatically mean you will be a good wife. I have seen virgin brides turn nagging wives, while some girls with so called PAST become considerate & discerning wives.
Women who let their husband be, earn his respect & get cheated on the least, but the police-woman type of wives a.k.a. lion queens, loose out more because of their ‘I-too-know attitudes’. I’m not saying you should tolerate bullshit, I’m just saying Be-A-Wife. If only women knew how easy it is to control a man. Here’s something you all should ponder on: “Men are more submissive, when they are in control”.

OJB's first wife explains why she donated her kidney to him
She tells Punch
"I did not even think twice about it, I had it and I gave it to him. He is my husband, the father of our children and I love him. This is somebody I have been with all my life. I did not tell anybody before I decided to, not even my parents because I had foreseen their reaction. There was no reason to inform them. When I married him, I told God I wanted the both of us to grow old together and live to see many generations. I am sure God knew this situation before he brought us together because not only am I a match for him, we are the same blood group and we are both stubborn.
